Mattress & Sofa Warehouse going out of business permanently
Locally owned and operated retailer begins total liquidation August 8

MORRISVILLE, Vt. (August 6, 2025) — Mattress & Sofa Warehouse will close its doors permanently following its final liquidation events, bringing to a close more than a decade of providing Morrisville and surrounding communities with high-quality home furnishings. The going-out-of- business sale opens to the public August 8.

Since 2014, Mattress & Sofa Warehouse has built a reputation for its welcoming atmosphere and exceptional customer service. In addition to offering customizable furniture options and white glove delivery, the independently owned furniture retailer regularly gave back to the community through support of the Lamoille Area Cancer Network.

“It has been a privilege to serve this community,” said retiring owner Roger Stevens. “I’m truly grateful for all of the support we’ve received over the years from our loyal patrons and dedicated staff.”

The final liquidation sale of Mattress & Sofa Warehouse opens to the public August 8 at 105 Gallery Lane. The 12,000-square-foot showroom is filled with trusted national brands such as Ashley, Benchcraft, La-Z-Boy, Simmons Beautyrest, Simply Amish, Southern Motion and Tempur-pedic. Furniture for every room in the home will be offered at deep discounts and priced to move quickly with 50% off home accessories. Management encourages early shopping for best selection. Stevens has owned and operated Mattress & Sofa Warehouse for the past three years, but his connection to the building and its history goes back decades. He began his career at Pratt-Read, a piano parts manufacturer that once operated in the same space and later became known as Vermont Precision Woodworks. As the company shifted to producing hardwood furniture, Stevens continued working there, eventually spending 40 years in the facility. In 2014, as Vermont Precision Woodworks wound down its on-site manufacturing, the company opened the Mattress & Sofa Warehouse showroom in the same location—giving the building a new life as a retail store. Stevens bought the retail business in 2022, continuing a tradition of excellence in craftsmanship and service.
